We are happy to bill insurances on your behalf for two scenarios:
In-Network (when your insurance is listed above)
In most cases, we will determine your total charges at the conclusion of your visit. You will be responsible to pay these amounts, and typically there are no further charges. If subsequent charges are to be assessed, they are because of mathematical errors or when billing medical visits. Medical visits often have additional co-payments which are determined by the insurance company after your visit.
Out-of-network (when your insurance is not listed above)
We are happy to bill insurances on your behalf out of network, but because we have typically have no knowledge of the insurance we cannot guarantee payment if any. Consequently, we ask for payment in full at the conclusion of your visit, and will bill your insurance for you. The insurance company may reimburse you directly, but sometimes send payments to us. Should they pay us you will be refunded your payment to us minus any charges determined by the insurance plan to be patient's responsibilities - typically non-covered options, co-payments and/or deductibles.
Application of your insurance will be either to your health or vision insurance.
This is determined by the reason for your visit: Medical visits include the management of injuries, infections or disease processes. Routine eye care encompasses wellness visits and/or visits for the purpose of obtaining glasses or contact lenses.
